Selecting A Real Estate
Agent
When selecting a Realtor, choose an experienced agent—one who has been
active in the industry for at least three years. It takes about this
long to learn the “real estate ropes” as well as the market trends and
conditions. Secondly, make sure to choose a fulltime agent who knows the
specific area. Real estate is a career for a fulltime agent —a
livelihood versus a part-timer who works real estate either ”on the
side” or somewhat as a hobby. Additionally, a fulltime agent is more
knowledgeable and has the motivation to do a good job and to get the job
done right! Do not feel obligated to hire a friend or relative who holds
a real estate license. This is big business! For most people, a home
sale and/or purchase is most likely the largest single investment of a
lifetime. Do not leave it to chance. Next, select a real estate agent
who has a fine reputation and listens and relates to you. It should be
someone with whom there is a level of comfort and a feeling of trust.
Finally, go with a company that has a good and reliable reputation in
the community. A strong agency located in the community has a vested
interest in the area.
